Transparency. Accountability. Fiscal Responsibility.
As a committed resident with a longstanding investment in the integrity, stability, and future of our condominium community, I am seeking election to the Board to uphold the foundational principles of effective governance: transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.
Having previously served on the Board, I bring institutional knowledge and practical experience. I have undertaken a thorough review of the Illinois Condominium Property Act to better understand the legal rights afforded to unit owners. This study has reinforced the importance of open communication and has clarified the specific information that residents are lawfully entitled to request from the Board.
If elected, I intend to host a Town Hall meeting to educate residents on these rights and to promote a culture of informed participation. My objective is to ensure that every member of our Association is empowered, respected, and fully aware of the processes that govern our shared community.
My career reflects a steadfast commitment to these principles. I served as the Assistant Legislative Inspector General for the City of Chicago, where I worked to safeguard ethical standards and ensure public trust through rigorous oversight. Later, as Director of Financial Controls at the Cook County Treasurer’s Office, I wrote every manual the office uses so my experience in complex financial matters is an experience no one else would have.
I believe in proactive communication with residents, responsible stewardship of association finances, and clear decision-making that benefits everyone. I bring experience, leadership, and an unwavering dedication to fairness—qualities that will strengthen our Board’s operations and build community confidence.
🔍 Transparency No more behind-the-scenes decision-making. I believe residents deserve full access to information that affects their homes and investments. I will advocate for clear communication, in-person Board meetings, and easy-to-understand financial reporting so that every homeowner feels informed and empowered. If elected, I will be available to answer any questions a unit owner has—by text or phone –and if I can’t immediately answer a question I will research to get the answer.
🛡️ Accountability Leadership should always answer to the people it serves. I bring a record of ethical oversight from my public service roles to ensure Board decisions reflect integrity, fairness, and the collective best interests of our community—not just a select few. Decisions should serve you, the owner, not personal agendas. With years of experience in advocacy and leadership I will hold the Board to the highest ethical standards—answering to the people, not the politics.
💰 Fiscal Responsibility Responsible financial management isn’t just about cutting costs—it’s about making smart choices. With my background in financial controls, I will push for responsible budgeting, demand clarity on expenditures, and safeguard reserve funds to support long-term stability—not waste. Your assessments deserve intelligent stewardship and should be managed with effective oversight. This includes implementing responsible budgeting practices, ensuring transparency in expenditures, and maintaining reserve funds to support long-term financial stability.
Challenges will arise—but together, we will rise. If certain Board members resist the call for openness and refuse to “open the windows” on our community’s decision-making, I won’t back down. Instead, I’ll turn to you—the unit owners—and ask you to join me in standing united. Together, we’ll demand transparency, accountability, and the respect every homeowner deserves.
Together, we can create a living environment that is not only well-managed but also genuinely inclusive and transparent. I look forward to earning your trust.
Let’s build a community where trust isn’t just earned—it’s expected. Vote for Kathy Posner for a board that works for everyone.
DEMOCRACY NOT AUTOCRACY
The Ninth Amendment (Unenumerated Rights), of the Constitution, limits government power. It serves as a reminder that the federal government is one of limited powers, and the people retain all powers and rights not specifically delegated to the federal government or prohibited to the states.
Just as the Ninth Amendment implies that individuals have rights beyond those explicitly stated, unit owners can argue that the Condominium Board’s powers are not limitless, even if every specific restriction isn’t written into the association’s bylaws.
Therefore, unit owners should use the spirit of the Ninth Amendment to:
- Remind the Board that their authority is restricted. Their power is derived from the association’s governing documents and the purpose of the association, not from an inherent right to control every aspect of unit owner life.
- Emphasize that the Board’s primary duty is to act in the best interests of the entire Towers Condominium Association. This means making decisions that benefit all unit owners collectively, not just a select few or individual Board members.
- Insist that the Board exercise fiscal responsibility. Their financial decisions should prioritize the well-being and stability of the Association’s finances as a whole, rather than serving their own personal interests or those of a small group.
